The purpose of the Stenting and Aggressive Medical Management for Preventing Recurrent stroke in Intracranial Stenosis (SAMMPRIS) study is to evaluate treatments for preventing stroke in patients with narrowed brain blood vessels. The study is comparing aggressive medical management alone versus aggressive medical management plus angioplasty combined with stenting.
The SAMMPRIS study is no longer enrolling new patients. Patients currently enrolled in the study will continue having their clinical exams as scheduled.
